Ten years ago at the beginning of the Polperro Festival of Arts 2001 The Polperro Arts Foundation was officially opened by Chris Panowitz (the Millennium Lord Mayor). From that auspicious opening we have not looked back.
A small energetic group of local Artists and Craftspeople had come together with one hope in mind, to promote and encourage the ‘Arts’ of Polperro and consequently after much discussion and research the Polperro Arts Foundation a non-profit making Chartered Trust was born.
With the acquisition of the Studio/Gallery on Quay Road we were finally able to fulfil our ambitions.
The Foundation ensures that all its members have an equal input into the day to day running of the Foundation. Our aim is to provide affordable studio and exhibition space and a vehicle to facilitate the numerous events and activities that encourage the Arts, especially with the children and schools of the village.
All our members are local Artists or Craftspeople, with a shared intention to support each other and Art within the community, maintaining Polperro’s long association with the Arts.
